Google Play Music Fixes Faux Pas, Says Sorry

Recently, we talked about the Google Play Music deauthorization issue. For those who aren’t aware, users of Google Music signed in randomly one day and could no longer deauthorize accounts on their Google Music. While this wouldn’t be a big deal for most unrooted users, for root users—and especially flashaholics like yours truly—this is was a pretty big deal, as users were finding that with every new ROM flash, Google would add a device to the authorization list.

In Its First Acquisition as a Public Company, Facebook Buys Social Gifting App Karma

That newfound cash is burning a hole in Facebook’s pocket. After raising upward of $ 15 billion dollars in its first day as a public company, Facebook has acquired social gifting app Karma and all 16 of its employees. The app is designed to help Facebook users find reasons to give one another gifts, identifying birthdays and special occasions. It’s an acquisition, not an “acqhire.” So, interestingly enough, the service will stay up and functioning, Karma said on

Apple files (again) for a preliminary ban against the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

If you found yourself longing for the minor tweaks Samsung made to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany earlier this year, you may be in luck: Apple’s filed for a preliminary injunction against the slate stateside. It isn’t the first one, either, Cupertino filed something similar back in February, though it didn’t quite pass legal muster. After gaining some headway earlier this week, Cook’s crew is in for round two, according to FOSS Patents, asking for Judge Koh to rule

Those dying to play Diablo 3 online don’t need to sit by their PCs to see if the servers are up and running anymore. China finally gives blessing to Google’s Motorola buy

Google has finally received approval from China to complete its purchase of Motorola Mobility, Google said Saturday. That paves the way for Google to integrate Motorola, though it remains to be seen exactly how it wants to use the phone maker. The deal is expected to close in the next week. Google made huge waves when it announced it was buying Motorola for $ 12.5 billion in August. After getting the U.S. Justice Department and EU approval in February, the process ground to a crawl as

Create a De-Bloat Script and Auto APK Installer

If your device runs a stock ROM, whether that might be a leaked version of the latest impending update or simply a rooted version of the devices current official firmware, chances are it’s going to include a certain amount of “bloat.” You know, those apps and widgets that OEMs feel are oh-so-important to the overall user experience. The fact is though that most of us disagree, and could quite happily live without most of them. There are many different ways to remove them,

Facebook Underwriters Stepped In to Support Shares at Offering Price

Facebook Inc.’s public debut had plenty of buzz but not much pop. The shares opened 11 percent higher, but struggled to stay above their $ 38 offering price and ended the day up just 23 cents. It was a tepid debut for one of the largest and most closely watched initial public offerings. More than 30 brokerages and banks were involved in the offering, which saw a nearly 571 million shares change hands on Friday — a record for a stock debut. Read the rest of this post on the

Raspberry Pi team shows off pics of (and taken with) prototype camera add-on

While the main thing that would make Raspberry Pi’s diminutive $ 25 / $ 35 Linux setups better would be if we could get our hands on them faster, the team behind it is already working on improvements like this prototype camera seen above. The add-on is slated to ship later this year and plugs into the CSI pins left exposed right in the middle of each unit. According to the accompanying blog post, the specs may be downgraded from the prototype’s 14MP sensor to keep things
